RAIN WORLD!!

THOUGHTS

i am physically and mentally ill about this game

I cannot even express how much this game means to me. There's a lot I want to say about it, but a lot I can't say without spoilers. Go play it! It's hard, but that makes it even more worth it if you get to the end.
There are a couple of things I can say though...
The animation system is really weird. Some guy decided to use procedural animation for video games and yeah. It turned out pretty well, in my opinion!

The main premise of the game is that you are a weird rat living in the sewers. There are creatures that come and sometimes (usually) try to kill you. I won't tell you exactly which creatures, as that would ruin the fun of watching people see a hostile creature for the first time and cycling through a million different emotions at once.
9/10, would definitely recommend.

Garn47

THOUGHTS

EDIT: I don't know why the border is black on this one. I don't know and I don't know how to fix it.

Okay. So... before I didn't have a review of this game because I hadn't finished it.

You'll never guess what I did.

I finished the game. So I'm going to write an actual review of it! And oh. my. god.
It's not finished, that's one thing to note. It is currently in development, with new updates on the way. I'm specifically talking about the SAFE update, Garn 2.5. And with most of the badges collected, and one (1) ending achieved, I can say that it is VERY INTERESTING. There are a lot of reasons I say that, I'll probably write an essay about one of those; but for now I'll just talk about the game itself.

I was going to go in depth about why exactly I love this game, but I feel like I can't write a review in a way that doesn't read like I dislike it. I really do like it! For some reasons that were intentional, and for some that weren't. Another reason I can't really talk critically about this is because of how personal the game is to the one who made it. I know this is a common sentiment in the Garn community, but this is something I just can't talk about in the same way I do other media. I know firsthand how art can have so much of a person's soul ingrained in it.

So what I'd like to say generally is: play the game, and despite how silly it is on the surface it can have some genuinely beautiful moments. It is probably one of my all time favorites. also at some point I think I went too far out of bounds and lost the camera.
8/10, totally garnular.

Bleating Heart

THOUGHTS

I like this webcomic. I really like this webcomic. I actually made this page specifically so I could talk about it long-form.
As of writing this, it is 10:13 PM, I'm going to fall asleep at 11, so I may have to make this quick if I want to ramble before I go to sleep.

First thing, the characters. They are quite well-written. I don't know, they just give off a certain energy. Also I heavily relate to Mary. Don't read into it.

Second thing, the artstyle. All of the characters are anthropomorphic animals, and that most definitely doesn't bother me. I am a furry IRL. Also don't read into it.
Halfway through the comic, the art shifts to a more watercolor-esque coloring style, making it feel more like a child's painting. I mostly like this decision, but it is very jarring. Sorry if the creator's reading this, or anyone who likes this change.

The comic is still relatively short, so if it does a 180 to being my favorite webcomic, I wouldn't be suprised. It has very profound themes, possibly only to me; but if I am the only fan of this webcomic, I will be its only fan until the world goes up in flames. What I'm saying is it seems to be setting up the dominoes for something. And that something is probably going to be the thing that makes this one great.
5/10 (as of speaking, may 25 2026, 10:28 pm.)

EDIT: someone is going to die in this story

FIREWATCH

THOUGHTS

I just finished playing this game, like-- I am writing this within the minute I finished it. And... yeah! It's pretty good!

It's primarily story-focused, so there are only some things I can say without spoiling it. Almost all of the things I like the most aren't about the story at all, it's the gameplay, the characters, and the aesthetics that drew me in. I heard about the basic concept of the game and then immediately dropped my 20 bucks to play it. And?

It has a similar sense of paranoia to Voices of the Void, and I initially wrote it off as just a simple VotV clone. Something I'd surely seen before. A 'cozy' game that slowly devolves into insanity... but there's something else to Firewatch.

When I played it, it felt more like a podcast than a game sometimes. I ended up just listening to the voice acting, and slowly getting immersed in the world... which made it all the more horryfying when everything fell apart. I'm not going to spoil the ending, you get to play it yourself. I am just here to discuss... the highlights.

In the opening cutscene, you learn about the main character's wife. She has dementia. She's in a home in Australia, her birth country. This hit hard for me specifically, as I have loved ones with dementia IRL. I know how hard it is to mourn someone that isn't even dead yet. As for yourself, the player; you go out to the... well-- firewatch facility to go escape from your life. There is someone on the hand radio you just... have there (probably for the best considering what you're doing), and the two of you talk throughout the game. That's the 'podcast' part I was talking about. You never see the faces of either of them, the player or Delilah (the woman on the radio).

The visual style is somehow both really flat and really detailed. I did set the graphics so I could minimize the amount of strain on my PC, but it's still pretty much the same at full... my computer sucks, okay?!

Eventually, things happen. I won't say the things themselves, I'll just say that the DREAD I felt after things started going south was. it was

I know it's technically an adventure game, but for the majority of the playthrough I seriously felt like it was a horror game. Am I just a coward? I mean, I do have a fear of fire.
My rating as of now is 7/10, suprisingly effective. I might revise this later, as I did just finish the game. Actually, almost all of my reviews are incomplete in some capacity... damn.

...go back?
